Creating an accessibility first design system
The SBI Youth for India Fellowship, a respected rural development program, encountered a brand challenge. Their vibrant visual brand image varied due to diverse content from fellows across different rural settings. This inconsistency affected the Fellowship's appeal to the service-minded youth they aim to attract, highlighting the need for more cohesive visual storytelling.

Meaningful inclusivity through design
To address this, Altorise set out on an ambitious mission: to develop a comprehensive and accessible design system that would both respect and reflect the diversity of the fellowship, while bringing uniformity and recognizability to the brand. The team at Altorise hatched a creative storytelling mantra: "Unlearn, Collaborate, Build, Sustain" or UCBS, accompanied by minimal symbols inspired by sign language. This not only represented the transformative journey of the fellows, but it also symbolized the language barriers they often encountered when interacting with local communities.
The symbols formed a versatile pattern that found application in various formats across social media, websites, print materials, advertisements, and events. Additionally, the team devised a color palette in compliance with accessibility guidelines for color blindness and high contrast, ensuring inclusivity and diversity in all communications.
